Event 39 - Winter 2001/2 - Traditions

4th Winter Event held on 31st Dec 2001

A real winter's day for the fourth staging of the Winter Stableford. A hard frost had left most of the greens rock hard. You had to think your way round and land the ball short where possible. One of our newest members and one of only two 28-handicappers was to show the field a thing or too. John Jones whose previous best in any comp was a 4th place, won with a fine score of 33 points. He led at the halfway stage with 19 and could not be caught. Those making the biggest charge on the back nine were Pammi Channa, who came home in 19 for 31 and Robin Dyson playing with John, who also scored 31. In the team event, John and Robin combined with their guest Terry Winsall for a clear victory. 

Shot of the day went to Colin Fish, a regular with the Society though playing in his first winter Event. He scored a hole-in-one at the tenth, his first ever and the Society's first ever.
