The Society was formed as a spin off of Woodvale Wanderers FC who played in the Croydon Sunday league (and previously in the Southern Area Sunday League). It was the brain child of midfield player Steve Watson  who sought interest during 1987 as the bulk of the squad all played a bit of golf. The first society day was in sept 1987 with 2 rounds of singles played at Addington Palace a short drive for most players who lived locally.

This turned out to be a bi-annual event with the next day in May 1988. The day comprised singles in the morning with Texas Scramble in the afternoon. 1989 saw the start of the Matchplay event which ran until 2012. For the next 7 years there were 2 golf days a year until 1996 when we staged our first summer event. This was normally 2 nights away with a 36 hole competition and a 1 round medal. The summer event ceased in 2010 but was reintroduced in 2023.Our first winter Stableford was played in 1998 and is still played annually.

In 1995 a number of players joined from the Hill Samuel System Golf Society (HSSGS) which was disbanded in the previous year. Steve Watson was the organiser of that society for the last 3 of its 7 years in existence.

We reached our 100th event in 2021.
