Event 48 - Summer 2004 - Kent

9th Summer Trip held on 10th/11th July 2004

For our ninth Summer event we made the relatively short trip to Kent and (again) stayed in the St Johns Guest House in Canterbury. Both events were about 20 minutes drive away. Our Friday Stableford event was played at Chestfield with the Saturday medal played at Herne Bay, the same venue as our 1999 medal. We started with the traditional Thursday night curry.

36-hole Stableford at Chestfield

John Fish won the two round Summer Stableford in style with the best score in both rounds. His morning 35 was the best with Shailen Patel and his afternoon 37 one better than Al Nawrocki. This gave John a three point margin and was his first major win since 1990. Al, winner last year, was runner-up this year with Steve Watson taking third on the countback.

Medal at Herne Bay

Colin Fish made it a family double winning the Medal on +1. He had a really steady round not like others who racked up some big scores on some of the holes. Peter Miles had the lowest gross on 82, net +2 for second. Ian Pearce was third on +4, his first ever top-three finish in a singles event since joining.
