Event 52 - Summer 2005 - Dorset & Hampshire
10th Summer Trip held on 8th/9th July 2005
Unusually our Summer trip was hosted in two counties not one. We again stayed at the Marric Hotel in Poole and also for the third time played our Friday comp at the Isle of Purbeck. We were fortunate to have excellent weather for the entire week-end.
Stableford at the Isle of Purbeck G.C.
Our two round Stableford turned out to be a close run thing as Steve Watson & Gary Pitt strung together two fine rounds. Steve shot 35 and 33 points to beat Gary by one who scored 32 then 35.
Playing together in the afternoon, Peter Miles just edged out Richard Walsh for third place. Robin Dyson was joint second after the morning round but could not manage a point a hole in the afternoon to fall well out of contention.
Medal at Wellow G.C.
Rob Dyson put his Friday well behind him with a blistering round of golf to win his first Medal with Woodvale. Playing off 13 he shot a gross 77, for a net -6. He started with two birdies and had nothing worse than a bogey. John Fish was runner-up on -4 playing off 17. There was a three-way tie on -1 for third spot. On the back six, Steve Watson playing off 9 edged out Peter Miles and Peter Hopkins.
