Event 66 - Winter 2008/09 - Stockley Park

10th Winter Event held on 14th Feb 2009

The weather had been bad the week before with plenty of slow and despite the thaw meeting was always a little in doubt. On arrival the fairways were white with frost but by the time the coffee and bacon rolls had gone down the course was green. Four of out twelve members were out to win their first major with Woodvale and two of them were to finish winner and runner-up. Ian Pearce playing in the last match won the Woodvale Stableford with 36 points. Playing partner Pammi Channa scored 33 for third though didnt score on the last two. Peter Chance finished as runner up a point behind. Defending champion John Fish as just out of the prizes in fourth. It was no surprise that the winning team had both winner and runner up in. Ian and Pammi teamed up with Colin Fish and Mike Lunnon to win the Winter Team Stableford by 2 points. This needed a bit of maths to reduce the scores to match those of the three-ball teams.
