Event 83 - Spring 2014 - Malden

54th Golf Day held on 9th May 2014

Malden golf club is a little treasure, tucked away, not far from the town centre, you wouldn’t know its there. It's a flat course and the weather was pretty good, so perhaps a good score would win. At the halfway stage Shailen Patel headed the field on 17 with fellow Purley members Yasin Lilani and Pammi Channa on 14. Steve Watson was bottom of the pile on 9. Peter Hopkins scored a good 17 on the back nine and his 30 was the best from group 1. Shailen had 2 costly blobs on 14 and 15 for a total of 29 in group 2. Peter Miles faired best in group 3 with a final score of 27. The final group would have 2 prize winners. Colin Fish stormed the blobs trophy, his ball not finding the cup on the last 4 holes for six blobs in total. Matt Fish scored 18 on the second nine for a winning score of 30. He edged it by one shot on the countback for his 3^rd victory in 5 events.
