Event 100 - Autumn 2020 - East Sussex National

66th Golf Day held on 21st Sept 2020

Well despite the pandemic, which had curtailed our Sprint event we eventually got to  our 100th event.  It was the East Course that staged our main golf day, which we play in May and September.

Unfortunately some of our stalwarts couldn’t make it but we did have a good number of guests to get us up to a good number. Al Nawrocki (defending his title) led us out and made a credible 16 front nine with a birdie on the 2^nd. Despite a blob on the 17^th his inward half of 18 gave him a fine 34. Shailen Patel had the best first nine with 19 points also with a birdie. He’d racked up 28 for 13 holes but his last 5 holes only made another 5 points, for a final score of 33. Paul Walker played to handicap over the first nine with 18 points and a birdie. His form slipped a little for a total of 32. Richard Walker stormed the guest's event with 40 points. No blobs, a birdie and 5 pars for the 17 handicapper. David England was one of a trio who scored 31. He birdied both the 2^nd and 14^th. The others were Paul Jeanes who edged out Dave Cooper for 4th on the back 9 countback. At the back Steve Watson was a few inches from a hole in one on the 4^th but racked up 7 blobs for the booby prize. Peter Miles was longest on the 9^th with David England closest on the 16^th.  So Al Nawrocki retained his title from Sept 2019 making him the first to win back to back twice.
